Man On Wire

Which is probably very frightening for most people including myself, one man can do it perfectly. Man on wire is a 2008 Documentary about Philippe Petit, a tightrope walker that is daring but also illegal. This documentary uses actual footage of him doing his courageous stunts. I believe this film was interesting in a way that it will give you an adrenaline rush because you never know what happens next as Philippe explains his unique story of reaching his goal to tightrope between the twin towers.

The title of the film is taken from the police report that led to the arrest (and later release) of Petit. The Documentary consist of footage photos and stories of preparation for the big event (Twin Towers) theres so many upsets and downfalls that happen to Philippe but he overcomes his obstacles that he has to face. some parts of the documentary are very shocking make you want to give up on him because you wont think he is able to accomplish certain things but it somehow always manages to pull though successfully and thats what I like, films that have you on the edge of your chair drooling for whats going to happen next. Upset because you have to go to the next period class. This is why this documentary is so interesting to me.

This movie competed in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize: World Cinema Documentary and the World Cinema Audience Award: Documentary. In February 2009, the film won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
