Ridley Scott created the sci-fi horror film Alien in the year of 1979. Our story begins In outer space, a group of astronauts aboard the Nostromo starship awake from their cryo-sleep capsules rush their way home to investigate a suspicious call for help received. While answering the distress call, the crew discover a nest of eggs inside an unknown alien ship. This leads to Kane getting attacked by a newly hatched alien ready to feast, causing the struggling team member to go into an unexplained coma with the monster remaining attached to his head. When the crew cuts the monster, it uses a defense mechanism and releases acid out of it’s body. After putting Kane in cryo-status for an extended period of time, the team return to find the alien missing and Kane in a stable state. From that point on the alien hunts the entire crew down in a way of showing his genetic superiority. This movie gives an in depth look into fear of the unknown and isn’t your usual friendly alien movie. Another thing this movie does incredibly well at providing plenty of shocking moments and twists to keep the viewers glued to the movie. From the discovery of the acidic blood to the reveal about one of the crew members was done phenomenally. Movies that take place in outer space can either be done great, or completely miss the mark for me as a movie analyst. I am relieved to say that not only did Alien set the bar for movies in space, but still holds up 37 years after its production.
