I never discredited or doubted Spike Lee for his amazing skills, but watching this film for the first time really gave me another reason to love his work. The film, Malcolm X was an amazing representation of the civil rights movement and showed viewers what activists had to deal with and how they had to live there life day to day just to stand up for what they believe in. But prior to this, it showed the view what made Malcolm X the man he later came to be. The movie didn't start with him being an activist, it all began with, him and his friend messing around with a white women, but soon after going to jail. But while he was in prison a change occurred, he converted to the religion of Islam. These beliefs didn't die after he was released. After getting out of jail it was easy to find him preaching his ideas all around, whether people believed or not. This all ended in him not only creating friends, but enemies too. These enemies later interrupted his family on a daily basis and came to kill him, Malcolm X was murdered by those enemies on February 21st, 1965.

This film gives people the amazing inspiration that let people know, you don't need a brunch of people to change the world, just a few with a big idea can make a huge difference. Something that I noticed about the structure of the movie it's self was the color palettes/lighting that was shown. It started out kind of dark but with a lot of bright colors shining through, then as things started to change from young and fun to harsh and serious so did the colors, they were more dark and dull instead of bright, signalling hope.

All and all, Malcolm X, wasn't just an anti-white movie or another civil rights movie, it was an example of progress and inspiration. Malcolm X, the film and the man, gave people realization that sometimes change isn't easy and doesn't go or even end as planned, but it can inspire people in many ways. All you have to do is commit yourself and let people know there is others with similar beliefs as them, all you have to do is voice them.
