Laszlo: Alien

The 1979 film Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, is a fantastic piece of art and horror fiction. At a first glance, this movie doesn't seem like much but the reality is that a lot of work went into making this movie and I believe that viewers understand that from this original first to the newest addition to the series, Prometheus and the current piece they are working on, Alien: Resurrection.

Some may argue the true "originality" that Ripley Scott used to create his own alien/movie after he stated that his two main inspirations for the film were Star Wars and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The idea of aliens in a general term has been around since the start of recorded history for mankind and have been viewed as many things, like slimy and crawly but I feel that Ripley Scott took his own idea from a combination of ideas... If that makes sense. The alien in Alien seems almost like a variation on the rankor in Star Wars.

I think it's a really nice little fact that the first Alien ship discovered, where Kane is attacked by the alien sperm organism, was an actual construction. Whatever crew was responsible for that did an amazing job in size and detail and it's also notable that Dallas's comment on something breaking out of the large alien body and the eggs being in the same ship that attacked Kane is a good example of foreshadowing.
