Sugar was a very interesting and inspirational movie, following the theme of the "American Dream". This movie was based on a lot of mental and physical challenges. Miguel Santos A nineteen year old from Dominican Republic has dreams and aspirations of playing as a pitcher in the major leagues (baseball). He gets his nickname from a joke from his teammates because he likes to eat a lot of sweet foods, but he lies and tells people that he got it because hes sweet with the ladies (which hes not). With A small amount of money he earned from when he signed with the Academy a little while ago. He started to build his family a new house one that has a bigger kitchen for his mother and a separate room for his grandmother.
He learned how to do a dangerous and good knuckle curve Sugar is invited to spring training by the fictional Kansas City Knights. while playing for them he then houses with the Higgins family, a family that are very supportive fans and volunteered to give players a place to stay. He still trying to learn the ropes around America, but one thing that he does like is and knows how to say in English french toast and that's all he gets from the diner.
Sugar was dominating but then injures himself, never fully regaining his ability during the off-season he gets a little depressed. Jorge, his one familiar connection to home in this strange new place, is cut from the team, never fully regaining his ability following off-season knee surgery. Pressure is put on Miguel's shoulders when Salvador, a young pitching phenom who used to play with Miguel, is brought up from the Dominican republic to join the team. Miguel decides to leave baseball to follow another kind of "American Dream". He ends up bringing himself into New York City.
