Alien
Usually I'm not into fiction scientific films, they're not films that I find interesting but by far Alien by director Ridley Scott was the best one I've seen yet. At first seeing that it was about an alien and some people that go to space didn't make me want to watch it at all, but once I got deeper into the film it caught my attention out of nowhere.
SPOILER ALERT!!! It took me awhile to get the whole plot of this film, but once I focused it all clicked! I finally realized that this film was based on a crew from the commercial star ship Nostromo [a towing vessel]. They're on there way back home from their journey when they get a call to investigate a mysterious signal. Once they respond and land on the moon Acheron (LV-426) they discover an alien vessel. There they [second in command Kane (played by John Hurt) specifically] find this organism. From inside an egg a creature leapt out and attached itself to one of the crew members, which left him in a deep coma. Ash and Ripley went through some conflict after Ripley found out that Ash has been secretly ordered to return the alien to the crew’s employers, who considered the crew expendable. Once Ripley confronts him, Ash begins to choke her to death, and that’s when Parker another crew member walks in, and knocks Ash’s head off.
The crew members began to see how dangerous this creature was and tried to make a plan, but it ended up killing all of them but one, Ellen Ripley.
Ellen self destructed the space ship, and as we all knew the alien followed her to the small ship that detached itself from the other one, where she thought she'd be safe but wasn't. She some how found a way to get the alien off that ship and did everything she could to kill it.
I loved this film, even though it had graphics that I didn't like seeing, for example when the alien was inside one of the crew members, and it showed the alien coming out his body, with all insides bursting out. Also when Ash died and all that we could see is the white liquid that poured out of his robotic body. But besides that the overall plot really caught my attention. Although I did expect the ending to be a bit better, I felt like everyone knew how this film would end, and we were right. It should have ended in a mysterious way that none of us would've thought of. That's the only part that I felt like could of been better.
Wow! One part of this film that stood out to me that I never could put a finger on was the purpose of the cat. But now it all makes sense to me after doing some research and finding out that the at represents the director! Who would've knew? After watching this film and hating the idea of the cat being added now, I love it. He represents the director without the director having to be there physically, he’s freely drifting around the ship, coming in and out of scenes. This was a great, creative way of adding himself into the film without anyone knowing.
