In this movie it showed the hard work-ethic and dedication that someone has to do in order to get what they want to accomplish in their lives. Miguel Santos also know as Sugar, he plays professional baseball in order to provide for his family and take them out of the poverty of the Dominican Republic. He thrives to make it big in the majors so he can provide more for his family. When he was playing in a Dominican baseball academy, he was recognized by a American baseball scout from a Kansas City team, where eventually he went to the United States to play for them. When he is proceeding with his baseball career the people back home in his community try to come to his life because they see that he is actually doing big things in the majors. Once Sugar got to the United Stated he stayed with a family where they held future prospects in there house so they can have a place to stay and eat. Not knowing any type of English he struggles to communicate with other people in the United States. Once he meet the other Latino players he started to feel more like home. Once he started to get in to the swing of things he gets injured while playing. When he is in recovery he starts to see the real world is like, there's always going to b someone,stronger,and faster than you. So when he seen that he couldn't play anymore he decides to live a new life in New York City. The moral of the story is that if you already have a plan with your life and something stops you from doing it. there's a lot of other ways where you can be satisfied and still be happy with what you do.
