This was my first time watching the classic thriller "Psycho" directed by Alford Hitchcock.  Before watching this movie I have only heard good things. The movie starts out with Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) who seems to be fed up with the way her life is going.  At work she is trusted to put $40,000 in cash in the bank.  Marion see an opportunity to start a new life with this money and decides to run away heading to California.

The black and white film and background music sets the mood of suspense throughout the movie.  To add to the suspense, Marion is caught in a rain storm on here way far from her home town and has to stop at a run down motel off the main highway called Bates Motel.  The owner of the hotel was a quite, soft spoken young man, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), he meets Marion when she arrived and got her settled in one of the rooms.

The iconic shower scene in the movie where Marion is murder while showering by Miss. Bates (Norman Bates' mother) was surprisingly shocking to me.  I had already heard about this scene whenever someone talks about this movie.  I was shocked because they killed off the main character, Marion, in the first 30 minutes of the movie.  After that I was completely confused as to how the movie can possible continue on.

But the ending only gets better in my opinion.  It's terrifying and thrilling at the same time. A week later Marion's sister Lila (Vera Miles) and Marion's love interest Sam (John Gavin) realized that she had fed town and decided to go find her.  They go to the Bates Motel and meet Norman.  They both suspect something is up with him and his house the was located right next to the motel.  Lila and Sam create a plan to sneak into the house where the discover the truth of Norman Bates.  Norman is psycho!  This exhilarating plot twist on the true identify of Norman and the shocking diagnosis of his psychological state as being dominated by his mother all through his own mind.
