When we were kings elijah
"When we were kings" directed by Leon Gast was a documentary based on Muhammad Ali and his legendary fight with George Foreman. Muhammad was the underdog coming up to fight George the champion at the time. This movie was probably my favorite so far of the year. I never took the time to watch any of Ali's fights or interviews because he is from a different generation and he's not really in the lime light anymore. This documentary I feel, introduces you to how he is as a person not just a fighter and he was a very energetic, cocky, and powerful man. You can't help but admire the mans confidence. He has no doubt in his mind about winning and nothing will stop him from believing he can do it. The documentary is an example of a real life underdog. No one expected Ali to win or even stand a chance in that fight; but he proved everyone wrong and knocked George foreman down in the 8th round. He actually won! You don't have to settle for the "he put up a fight" excuse like we had to in the Rocky film. I hope we continue to see more films as interesting as this, even if it is a documentary!
