Malcolm x elijah Mendez
The film Malcolm X directed by Spike Lee is a film based on the African American leader Malcolm X. The movie shows Malcolm's most important experiences during his life. The film shows his incarceration, his coming to Islam, his falling out with the group, and his assassination. I really enjoyed this film because I never learned about Malcolm x in any of my history classes or any other subjects at that. It seems when teachers or history talks about the civil rights movement the only people they bring up are Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. Yes these people were important in the civil rights movement but so was Malcolm X, just because he had a different method than the others doesn't mean he should be ignored and not appreciated in history. I liked this movie because it showed you what Malcolm was really about it doesn't make him out to be an insane, voilent leader like how The U.S. Made him out to be. For example in the movie "Selma" (a movie based on Martin Luther King) the actor who plays president Johnson says himself they would rather have Martin Luther King as the civil rights movement than one of the voilent leaders such as Malcolm x. This is just one of the negative ways Malcolm was portrayed as in movies and history. I like how this movie lets you see his side of the story
