This movie was made in 2012. Main character Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) and her mentally ill, short tempered father (Dwight Henry). This movie is from the beginning to the end bugged out. Well let me not say it like that, I just don't anyone deserves to be raised like that. Raised in an environment where you don't know if your father is going to be normal or having another breakdown which leads him into the mental hospital.
They have separate homes, across from each other facing each other. But they don't sleep under the same roof. Her father calls her like a dog with the animals to come eat and when he doesn't show up to give her the food she does the most spiteful thing and tries to burn down her house. She has common sense to not blow up the house. They live in a community called the "Bathtub" with other people just like them. They have a school, meals together the whole nine. But they never seem to take showers. There is a storm that is approaching that is causing everyone to leave their homes. After the storm passes everyone starts to look for the surviving people around them. Throughout the movie she has visions about her mother but she never really finds out who her mother is until towards the end of the movie when she sees a cook she thinks shes her mother. Overall this movie isn't as good she everyone thought. I think she should've or could've been taught better life lessons. I feel like if more stuff would've happened the movie wouldn't have been that annoying. Also, the little girl never got her hair done. I don't see how someone could be okay with living with that. But if you were raised in something, I guess that's just what your used to.
