Beasts of the Southern Wild #MichaelLee

Beast of the Southern Wild defiantly an interesting movie. It's one of the few movies that I am really able to get into and still feel confused about the story. This story starts out with a father and daughter living together in this region called the bathtub. Everything does start okay. 

 They live really in a dump with pieces of steel and wood all over the place. Animals are running free everywhere in their little plot of land. Also the scenery looks of something out of an old abandoned farm in Alabama or Florida. Well Hushpuppy, the daughter, has her own little house. It.s up in a tree and it's look possibly like a shipping crate or a really big trailer. But everyone morning the father throws some food on the little pocket grill and call out to hushpuppy to come and get her food. Amazing how they live so separate from each but still try to have a good breakfast to bond. 

This bathtub they live in is a little region where people can live off the grid. They live without electricity and most of the modern amenities that you would see in homes or stores. They teach through experience and going out and doing stuff unlike modern schools teach more on computers where you sit down and stare at a wall of light until your eyes burn out.

Hush puppy's mother left when she was really young. She still has dreams of when of her and her father rarely talks about considering the thought of her kills him. Wink, the father, has contracted a disease that almost gives him a stroke or heartache. we saw that when Hushpuppy was arguing with wink and as he collapsed, hushpuppy froze up in fear. Not knowing what to do, she ran to the town. 

Something terrible happened. The whole area of the bathtub flooded and forced everyone out of their homes. Hushpuppy and wink fled the home on a bed of a pickup and used it as a boat. They ended up floating a while. Hushpuppy was laying in the corner while wink fished for food. He was fishing with his hands which is really hard. They ended up floating into town where they found two people at the bar still drinking. The two people jump on and they go off to the dam where there's another civilization on the other side. They are people who are on the grid, they used modern technology and medicine in their everyday lives. They end up captured and taken into what looks like a hospital where wink is analyzed for his disease. Wink doesn't want to be looked at because he is ashamed that he has to associate himself with modern technology.

Hushpuppy joins the group of bathtub people while her father is staying behind and hushpuppy can't let that happen. Hushpuppy ends of escaping in search of her mother. She ends up at brothel where the cook brings her in the kitchen. We don't know whether she is actually her mother or not but we can remember the father recalling the mother making the best alligator tail which the cook makes. He eats the alligator tails while taking some home to her father to give him some and send him into the water a lite him on fire. Across the scene you can see beasts that walk. Hushpuppy now walks up proudly to the beast as she now is confronting the beast. She now takes the place of her father and she faces reality and becomes the person who her father wanted her to be.

I believe this movie had to with confronting the beast, the beast meaning life. There's always obstacles that you have to face and there is also a time where you have to grow up and learn to be self dependent and not afraid.
