We're not sinking, we're crashing!!

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is an all-time classic, with many shows parodying it to this day. Notably, the scene in India where Jones rolls under a closing door and reaches back under to pick up his fedora. One specific mention of this is from Family Guy's, "Road to Germany", a sequence in which Brian and Stewie Griffin, and Mort Goldman exit their crashing plane, which mimics the same situation from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom complete with raft, "We're not sinking, we're crashing!" quote and Slalom on Mt. Humol from the movie's score.

Despite all these pop culture references, I never actually got around to watching Indiana Jones. (The same goes for James Bond and most of Star Wars, for that matter...) I finally got to see it in Intro to Film Studies, and I can see why the movie is a classic. I can admit that half the time I check my phone during movies, but I had to fully sit down and watch this one. I felt a few emotions as I watched it, ranging from laughing to suspense to disgust. Those bugs in India were righteously creepy, ech... There were some, "what the hell" moments like the life raft and the Kali sacrifice where the victim's heart is ripped out right in front of him with little to no effort. KALI MA!

One part that sticks out in my mind is the scene where Short Round picks up Indy and Willie Scott in the car. I just think it's funny how they have a little kid driving their car, but I suppose it makes a little bit of sense because it's not like Jones can shoot from behind and drive.

All in all this is a silly but also amazing movie and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get into watching classic cinema.
