Man on Wire was movie about a french wire walker name Philippe who dreamed of wire walking on the Twin Towers. Now while watching the film it gave a sense of perspective with what people dreams and desires, when I saw Philippe read the newspaper about the twin towers being built and wanting to wire walk on it when it was still in the process of being built and how much he wanted to do it but can't really made me look up to him, here was a guy who dreamed of something that was not a reality yet still sought after to make it a reality and he was not like "oh i'm going to wait for it to be built" no he instead wired walked on other buildings like Notre Dame Cathedral and Sydney Harbor Bridge it was like he was preparing and building himself up to the twin towers through it all he had friends and comrades helping him to prep the equipment and planing, it was all fantastic not only did the man walk between the twin towers but he brought a breath of fresh air to New York that day, he did what other people thought impossible though in my opinion the twin towers was still being built when he was wire walking so who really thought that someone would be crazy enough to do that but Philippe did all that with a smile and that really made me understand what Philippe said when he is talking about dreams and life that in order to truly live life, you got live life on the edge. Man on Wire
Man on wire was an inspirational tale that tells of Philippe; a french wire-walker, and his dream of walking between the twin towers. This insane goal resulted in tons of prep and planning and eventually ended with success. The message of this film is very strong and very literally tied to Philippe's own story. "Never give up and don't let anything get in the way of your dreams" is something I believe Philippe would stand strongly behind.
Throughout the film, Philippe and his friends all question whether or not the dream is possible, they even say how they are aware that he may die. Regardless, nothing ever stops them. Nothing ever causes Philippe to doubt himself or his dream, and it seems like nothing could get him to stop trying. Even in the face of the law at the very end, he is not at all deterred. He goes as far as taunting the officers by coming close then walking away.
This movie represents a lot of things that people tend to avoid. People don't take risks, and this movie shows that risks can be the best things in your life. Even if the risk could kill you. Philippe is such a free spirited person throughout the entire film, everything about him is exaggerated. He talks about the plan as the best thing of his life. His friends are brought to tears remembering how emotional and important it all was for them. Because they took this risk, their lives had been improved and their dreams had come true. That's what I believe this movie is about, taking risks to achieve what you really want.

We just recently finished watching the movie Rocky. The movie takes place in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The home of Independence Hall (1976). The movie was directed by John G. Avildsen. Sylvester Stallone played in the movie as Rocky. During the beginning of the movie the filmmakers show Rocky as a dead beat amateur boxer that can barely win a boxing match.
They also show him as a hypocrite because in one of the scene of the movie he told a little girl not to drink or smoke, but he does both himself. They also showed Rocky as being a part time loan shark, but as the movie goes on portrayed that he is not a good loan shark because he has a soft side to him. He's a pet lover as myself, I have a pet turtle and it mean sentimental value to me because I had it for so long, sensitive but tries to hide it at the same time, Rocky tries to hide his soft side by acting like a manly manner or in other words be the head honcho in the movie, because he doesn't like to be portrayed as a soft person.
During the film it shows how Rocky got this enormous deal to fight against one of the best fighters there is reigning and undefeated heavyweight champion of the world Apollo Creed. It showed how Rocky used his unique ways to actually train his body for the big fight. For example, he would go to a meat freezer. The film showed that it wasn't just a sports movie. It showed that the film was also a romance and motivational movie to the viewer.

While in America, things get difficult. From extreme competition to injuries to loss of friends, the sport became more of a task than a hobby and Sugar made the decision to leave it all behind and travel to New York to start his life over. He picks up a job at a diner and even goes back to one of his old hobbies, carpentry. He decides to start playing baseball again, but in a less competitive, more recreational way. Things didn't go as we, the audience, anticipated but I feel that in no way does that impact the overall quality of the film.
This movie changed my perspective on life, as dramatic as that may sound. Typically, we feel that happy endings aren't happy endings unless things go as planned or anticipated. Starting the movie, I figured that he would make it big in the MLB and move his family from the Dominican Republic to America, which is why I was so upset at the end of the movie when things didn't turn out that way. This movie showed me that sometimes ideal isn't really ideal. Sugar ended with him playing on a small baseball team, working a day job, and overall living life as a regular person. It wasn't exactly what I envisioned the ending would be like but it made sense.
Now I feel as if happy endings don't always have to be what we picture them to be. What is the American Dream?
When people think of America, they think of a land full of opportunity. They think of the American Dream, which is when someone has a come up from nothing to something. This, essentially, is what the film Rocky is all about. It tells the tale of an amateur boxer, Rocky Balboa, who comes from a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia. He's given a shot at fighting the heavy weight champion, Apollo Creed, in 1976. He was convinced he couldn't do it and even turned down the chance first before taking it into consideration and agreeing. He figured that even if he lost, he would have at least gotten his name out there.
This movie helped me realize that the things people say about you aren't always true, and they don't have to come true either. In this movie, everyone called Rocky a bum. They must have all been surprised when he lasted 15 rounds in the ring with heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. I also learned that with hard work, you're capable of anything. With rigorous training, both mentally and physically, Rocky managed to step into the ring with Apollo. He may not have won but that doesn't mean he didn't accomplish a great thing, which leads me to the next lesson this movie taught me. You don't have to win in order to be considered great. Though Rocky came close to winning the fight, he didn't, but that doesn't mean that he's a bad fighter. In fact, this loss is probably the greatest thing to have happened to him.
Another important aspect of this movie was the romance between Adrian and Rocky. It portrays that maybe opposites do attract. Adrian, a very shy, quiet girl, and Rocky, a loud, amiable man, managed to make things work out quiet well. In a way, they balanced each other out. Rocky didn't give up on her, even when she hid in her room to avoid going on a date with him. Though this could be considered a clear sign of disinterest, Rocky didn't take it that way. He simply put two and two together that she was shy and not exactly into dating. He stuck it out and in the end, the two built a very strong relationship.
Having seen this movie for the first time, I now understand why it's as hyped up as it is. Regardless of the good quality content, the movie has multiple good messages and themes. This movie represents what exactly an underdog is and the American dream quite well. Overall, I enjoyed watching this movie.

What is the American Dream?
Ever since the very beginning of American history people come to the US and believe that it was the land of opportunity, where any man can make his way up, whether it be money wise, career wise, etc. The movie, Rocky, demonstrates the american dream at it's finest. Rocky was a low level boxer and worked for a loan shark, living in a run down/poor neighborhood in Philadelphia. But as he realized he needed to change his ways because he wasn't making it anywhere. He was making 40 dollars a fight if he was lucky and wasn't the right guy for the loan shark job, he didn't want to hurt anyone, as ironic as that may be seeing as how he's a boxer. But just as America is advertised, Rocky was given an opportunity, purely out of luck, to fight the one and only Apollo Creed. This match, win or lose was going to make him famous. Rocky trained for a couple weeks hoping his efforts would give him a chance. Once, New Years came around it was time to put his training to the test. Prior to fighting he decided that it didn't matter if he won or lose as long as he lasted for a certain amount of rounds, which he did. There for he met his goals and achieved his dream. In this instance the American Dream was real.

In the 1976 movie Rocky, director John G. Avildsen and screenwriter Sylvester Stallone explore the idea of the American Dream. Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) had a dream of being a boxer yet when he's given the chance to fight heavy weight champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), he doesn't jump at the chance at first. Once he finally accepts the offer, he trains harder than he ever has to reach his goal of lasting 15 rounds with Creed, something no one had ever accomplished before. Through his hard work and persistence, Rocky ends up accomplishing his goal.
The film also strayed away from the cliché of having the underdog win the fight. In Rocky, Creed still won the fight even though Rocky was able to last 15 rounds. Although the viewer was aware Rocky didn't win, the main focus wasn't on Rocky's loss. Instead the focus was on Rocky and Adrian (Talia Shire) who said they loved each other.
Rocky also has a heartwarming mood at times. For example, when Rocky and Mickey (Burgess Meredith) get into an argument at the gym. Rocky feels as though all these years Mickey hasn't given Rocky a fair chance and feels like Mickey's ignored him in a way. To that Mickey responds "You had the talent to become a good fighter, but instead of that, you become a legbreaker to some cheap, second rate loanshark!" From that we can tell that Mickey felt as though Rocky had given up his potential to be something great for a job that wasn't respectable.
